KANSAS CITY — Allen Community College point guard Josh Sweet was one of 35 players who participated in the Maximum Exposure Basketball Showcase at the Kansas City Kansas Community College campus on July 23.

Sweet, a 2012 Washburn Rural graduate, scored seven points, handed out eight assists, grabbed six rebounds, and had two steals in the two 32-minute running clock games as one of the top performers at the event.

Three days later, Sweet would go on to score 39 points in a game at the Sunflower State Games featuring a number of former college and professional players.

The 5-foot-10 left-hander turned in a solid freshman campaign at Allen averaging 9.2 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.9 rebounds last season, which included a season-high 33 points against Butler on Feb. 8 as the team finished with a 16-15 record.  He led the team with 46 3-pointers and shot 36.5 percent from long range.

He’ll be looking to build on a strong finish in which he averaged 15.1 points and shot 38.5 percent from beyond the 3-point line in the final seven games.
