Seaman right-handed pitcher Ryan Zeferjahn was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 37th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft on Saturday.
Zeferjahn, a top 150 prospect according to Baseball America, posted on Friday before he was drafted that he intends to play college baseball at the University of Kansas as opposed to signing a pro contract.

Zeferjahn was projected to be drafted in the top five rounds, but slid in the draft because of signability and informed teams of a certain signing bonus he was targeting to pass on attending college. He has until July 15 to sign a pro deal in case he changes his mind. Zeferjahn would again be eligible for the draft following his junior season in 2019.
Zeferjahn, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 190 pounds, has a fastball in the 91-95 mph range. He went 6-2 with a 1.70 ERA as a senior with 78 strikeouts in 53 innings. He also hit over .350 with four home runs and 30 RBIs.
He also played basketball where he was named Co-City Player of the Year averaging 15.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in helping lead the Vikings to a 15-7 season, their best mark in 10 years.
Kansas went 20-35-1 this past season.
