Four players from Topeka will be participating in the Northern Exposure Preps invite-only Fall Ball Invitational at Olathe East High School on Sunday.
Shawnee Heights junior point guard Trey Brown, the No. 1-ranked 2017 prospect in Topeka, and top-ranked 2019 guard Zach Harvey headline the foursome.
Shawnee Heights 2017 forward Poncho Freeman and Hayden 2018 shooting guard DeShawn Hanika will also be participating in front of a number of scouts and media with games beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Brown is coming off a successful summer playing for SSA Elite as he had a number of standout performances including shining at the GASO in Texas. He earned the nod as the top-ranked 2017 player in Topeka heading into his junior season where he is poised for a breakout season after being a reserve on last year’s 20-3 team.
Harvey is a 6-foot-3 combo guard, who has received national attention from various media outlets and events including participating in the UA NEXT game in Brooklyn, N.Y., the Pangos All-Midwest Frosh/Soph Camp in La Grange, Ill., and the John Lucas International Middle School Combine in Houston, Texas.
Harvey has already received interest from Division I programs North Carolina, Northwestern, Maryland, Kansas State, and Oklahoma. He took an unofficial visit to Northwestern last weekend.
Freeman, like Brown, is looking for a breakout season after being a key reserve on last year’s Shawnee Heights’ state tournament team. Freeman is a solid low-post scorer and a good rebounder. He played in a number of 17U tournaments over the summer with the Kansas All-Stars.
Hanika is a 6-foot-3 shooting guard, who also had a good summer playing for the Kansas All-Stars. Hanika has an inside-out game that continues to develop and he is also a good rebounder for his position.
