SSA Elite Features Topeka’s Top 2017 Players

If you want to see Topeka’s best 2017 prospects you are going to want to watch SSA Elite during the spring and summer.

SSA Elite, coached by former Kansas State guard Will Spradling, features top-ranked Shawnee Heights point guard Trey Brown and second-ranked 6-foot-5 small forward Jenner Hickel from Washburn Rural.

Shawnee Heights forward Poncho Freeman,  Washburn Rural point guard Brayden White, and Shawnee Heights shooting guard Michael Brooks are all playing for SSA Elite and ranked among the top seven 2017 players in Topeka.

Brown averaged 14.8 points and 3.9 assists to help lead Shawnee Heights to a 15-7 season in his first year as a starter.  He has taken unofficial visits to Tulsa and Division II Washburn.

Hickel had a breakout junior season averaging 15.4 points and 4.1 rebounds with 41 3-pointers for the Junior Blues.  Air Force has expressed interest and plans to see him in April.

Freeman earned All-City first team honors after averaging 15.9 points and 8.4 rebounds for the T-Birds.

White (5.7 points, 4.5 assists) and Brooks (8.7 points, 2.6 rebounds) also were key contributors for their respective teams.

SSA Elite’s 16U team features 2018 Topeka players DeShawn Hanika, Koryion Carr, Hayden Federico, Tyler White, and Jack Hamilton.

The SSA Elite 15U program includes 2019 Topeka players Levi Braun, Tyce Brown, Trey Duffey, Grant Cooney, Savian Edwards, Armahn Downing, Jake Spence, and Charlie Roeder.
